MESA, Ariz. -- Will Ohman made his Cubs debut toward the end of a
dismal 2000 season, which was the first year of the Don Baylor era.
Ohman, a left-handed reliever, was called up from Class AA West
Tenn with Corey Patterson and had a fiery baptism (8.10 ERA after six
games).
Five years and three elbow surgeries later, Ohman is trying to
reclaim all his lost chances. After believing his Cubs career may
have ended last September when he wasn't recalled from the minors to
help the playoff push, Ohman has his sights on self-renewal. But he
needs a strong final week of spring training to avoid being pushed
aside again.
