When asked to identify ourselves among other practitioners of a winter sport, most of us used to be content with a designation of either skier or snowboarder. There are a few among us who cross over and do both, but most of us have made a choice.

Going back about a dozen years, there was a perceived and erroneous gulf between those who rode down the mountain on two skis or one snowboard. In the early 1990s, that chasm between the two types of ride was a wide one indeed.
