Article: Fireworks show to feature more Pops than ever

The torch, or more appropriately the firecracker, has been passed at Cabrillo Beach.

After 56 years of being run by John Olguin, the Cabrillo Beach Fourth of July fireworks show will be run by a new set of organizers this year. The Cabrillo Beach Boosters and the Coastal San Pedro Neighborhood Council plan to throw the festival.

"Well, I'm 85 years old and I've been doing this since 1950. I thought it was time to turn it over to a committee," Olguin said. "By doing this I wanted to make sure San Pedro and the children of this town will always have a fireworks show every Fourth of July."
