Airlines will have to pay far more to operate at Los Angeles
International Airport under a new leasing policy approved Monday by
airport commissioners -- and some carriers said passengers would feel
the difference.
The new policy could more than double the amount of rent and other
fees that some carriers pay for their space at LAX. Airport managers
say they need to raise the rents to better reflect the costs of
running and improving the airport.
The question of how much LAX can charge the airlines will likely
be decided months from now in a courtroom. The airlines had their
attorneys in the audience Monday when airport commissioners voted 5-
0 to revise the LAX leasing policy, clearing the ...
