San Pedro breaks ground on $175 million condo development

Gathered under a hot sun on a dirt lot Thursday, San Pedro
community leaders were asked to imagine the future: a gleaming, 16-
story glass tower with luxury condominiums overlooking Los Angeles
Harbor and the Vincent Thomas Bridge.
The Vue, a $175 million development seen as symbolic of San
Pedro's still hoped-for revitalization, is expected to be finished by
early 2008. Some of the 318 units have already been purchased.
But those attending Thursday's "concrete pouring" and
groundbreaking ceremony had to dream a little bit, with help from
some artist renderings.
"What you see behind us is just the beginning," said Raffi Cohen
of Galaxy Commercial Holding, the development company, as he stood ...
