Sir, In response to the article "Hui brings message of diabetes
dangers", (Nelson Mail, March 28), it was disappointing to read this
article in reference to diabetes. Nowhere was it mentioned what type
of diabetes was being reported on. As a parent of a child with type
1 diabetes, it has become extremely frustrating trying to point out
the difference between type 1 diabetes and type 2. Type 1 diabetes
occurs when the pancreas stops producing insulin - not because of
any unhealthy lifestyle issues. It most often occurs during
