Article: KAINE WILL CALL SPECIAL SESSION

Gov. Tim Kaine and General Assembly leaders met privately Wednesday to discuss the state's transportation funding problems, but reached no agreement on how far lawmakers should go to fix them in a special session later this spring.

Kaine has indicated he will call a special session in late May or early June to deal with transportation funding, an issue largely triggered by a Virginia Supreme Court ruling in February that invalidated regional tax-collecting authorities in Northern Virginia and Hampton Roads. The authorities were key components of a compromise transportation funding bill passed last year.
