Article: Jayhawks foster new sense of community for Jeannette

The city of Jeannette threw a party in the streets Thursday night, and the high school's football and basketball players united with its residents to celebrate in the afterglow of state titles for both teams.

"The community has always been unified around the athletic program," said Stuart Albaugh, Jeannette High School principal. "It's just the idea, the success we had brought about more of a sense of community pride, a sense of accomplishment.

"Sometimes, Jeannette is looked down upon by other communities in Westmoreland County," he said. "We have more going for us than other communities have. It was a big plus for us."
