On Page A8 of the Dec. 27 Daily Breeze, I saw the picture of the five former presidents in 1991. Was this the first time to have five former presidents alive or has this happened before a long time ago?

At the time that picture was taken at the 1991 opening of the Reagan Presidential Library, four of the five men pictured -- Reagan, Carter, Ford and Nixon -- were former presidents and one, George H.W. Bush, was the current president.

But there have been three times when five former presidents have been alive.
