If there was any doubt about which direction the Southland's two
major league teams seem to be headed, the Freeway Series over the
weekend served to emphasize the point: The Angels are cruising toward
the 2004 season in the carpool lane and the Dodgers are stuck in
bumper-to-bumper traffic, sucking on exhaust fumes.
The Angels' 13-5 victory Sunday afternoon in front of 39,368 at
Angel Stadium completed a three-game sweep of the Dodgers, sending
them to opening day today trying to forget about their 22 spring-
training losses, the most ever by the club since moving to Los
Angeles in 1958.
The Angels will take today off to take a flight to Seattle after
finishing the spring 19-13.
