Q: I'm interested in taking a five- or six-day cruise through the
Panama Canal. I visited most of the Caribbean islands and do not
particularly like cruises. Any suggestions?
A: I'm not sure why you don't like cruises, but these days there
are so many different ships that there's one for every personality
type.
Unfortunately for you, most cruises that pass through the canal
last for about 10 days. For example, Cruise West (www.cruisewest.com
or 888-851-8133) has a 10-day/nine-night cruise onboard the 100-
guest Pacific Explorer, which makes for a personal and less-crowded
eco-tourism adventure, with departures in December through March.
