Article: Historical Society collects items to preserve for the future

313The San Pedro Bay Historical Society collects the items you don't want.

With an archive of materials nestled in a sixth floor office in the Municipal Building, the society maintains a vast collection of photos, firsthand accounts of events, ephemera, maps and other items pertaining to San Pedro's past.

"We are the attic of San Pedro," said Anne Hansford, the archivist. "We have quite a variety of items."

Entering the society on a recent Wednesday triggers the ringing of a clanging brass overhead bell.
