Speed guns seldom get over-worked when Orlando Hernandez pitches.
The veteran right-hander not only is a master of the off-speed
pitch, he takes his time between throws.
But it is the rhythm that suits him, and the one the White Sox
were looking for as the Cuban starter returned to the mound Friday
against the Cleveland Indians after a 15-day absence with
inflammation in his right shoulder.
"If there's anyone who is a little different, it's El Duque," Sox
pitching coach Don Cooper said Friday as the Sox won 6-4 before a
U.S. Cellular Field crowd of 23,132.
"He knows himself better than the rest of us. If other guys work
at 78 rpm, he might be at 33 rpm, but sometimes ...
