One reason we look forward to traveling is that it gives us an
opportunity to check out different wines in different places.
In April, on our way home from celebrating our anniversary at an
enchanting inn in Washington, Conn., we dropped into two Connecticut
wineries. A few days after Christmas, when we drove to Philadelphia
so our daughter Zoe and her friend C.J. could record a song, we
stopped at a Pennsylvania winery.
Our memories are chock full of wine discoveries on vacation: a
fragrant Ladoix at L'Esperance in Saint-Pere-sous-Vezelay, where
dinner lasted, oh, about four hours; an earthy and ephemeral
Spatburgunder over dinner along the Rhine, and our first Sassicaia,
the legendary ...
