Article: PLUMBING Kitchen sink overflow guard requires second thought

Q. I have noticed that kitchen sinks don't have overflow protection like bathroom sinks. When I asked my plumber about this, he said it was not necessary but could not tell me why. I think it would be a great idea if manufacturers would start adding this feature to all kitchen sinks. What do you recommend as a solution to prevent a kitchen sink from overflowing, and why has it not been done already?
