CHEYENNE -- Like most Division I-AA teams, Appalachian State is
used to playing the big boys of Division I-A.
The Mountaineers have taken on Auburn, Clemson and Wake Forest
under coach Jerry Moore, who begins his 16th season as coach for the
Boone, N.C., school.
Moore's team faces its latest I-A test at 1 p.m. Saturday against
the University of Wyoming at War Memorial Stadium.
Last year Appalachian State made its longest road trip in school
history -- 4,948 miles -- when it opened the season at Hawaii and
lost 40-17. The team will have to travel a mere 1,580 miles to get to
Laramie.
The Mountaineers are 6-25 against I-A teams, and all of those
victories were against Wake Forest of the ...
