LARAMIE -- Years ago a sheep herder named a desolate area in western Wyoming's high desert about 27 miles north of Farson. He called it Jonah Gulch.

Now known as Jonah Field, it is one of the richest areas in the country for natural gas.

And thanks to two Wyoming families who have tapped some of the wealth of that resource, the face of collegiate athletics at the University of Wyoming is about to undergo a dramatic change.

Casper entrepreneurs John and Mari Ann Martin and Mick and Susie McMurry and their families have donated $5 million to UW for athletics facility construction and upgrades.
