At this point, nobody knows what causing the nation's honeybees to
drop dead.
Terry Booth, owner of Cheyenne Honey, said he spoke with a Fort
Collins, Colo., beekeeper who lost two-thirds of his honeybee hives.
The disease endangering business for professional pollinators and
honey collectors has been identified as colony collapse disorder, but
the exact cause is still unknown.
Cases of colony collapse disorder have been reported in 24 states,
including Wyoming. The disease is identified by weakened bees that
desert the hives before dying.
