Bertha Mary Nichols-Vondy was born Sept. 18, 1922, in Rapid City,
S.D., to Ruth Law (Drummond) and Harry J. Strouse.
Bertha died peacefully Aug. 13 at Life Care Center at the age of
84.
After high school in Oelrichs, S.D., Bertha attended Chadron State
Business College. In February of 1942 she met Harold Nichols in
Chadron.
They were married on March 15, 1944, and settled in Cheyenne. They
loved one another deeply for nearly 50 years.
Bertha raised three boys and also worked as a bookkeeper and
secretary in Harold's State Farm office. With Harold she was involved
for more than 50 years in First United Methodist Church, including
more than 40 years in the Golden Circle Sunday School class. ...
