Australian mining companies eye Philippine mineral resources

MANILA, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- Australian mining firms are upbeat with the prospects of mining industry in the Philippines after a Philippine Supreme Court ruling opened the country's mining resources to foreign companies, said the Australian ambassador in Manila on Saturday.

Australian ambassador Ruth Pearce told local media that some Australian companies are already eyeing deals with local mining companies, including the Indophil Resources company which has a 40 percent stake in the Sagittarius copper-gold project in Tampaken, South Cotabato in Mindanao.
