UN genocide tribunal opens one more court room in Tanzania

DAR ES SALAAM, March 2 (Xinhua) -- The International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) has opened one more court room to speed up its hearing and trial of genocide cases, apart from dispersing some cases to Rwanda.

The newly-opened court room is the fourth in the Arusha-based United Nations court that was established in 1995 to try key perpetrators of the 1994 massacre in Rwanda where as many as 800, 000 people, most of them minority Tutsis, were claimed to have been killed.

The UN court has planned to close all its hearings and trials before 2008.
