DAR ES SALAAM, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- The first witness called upon to defend a former Rwandan minister accused of genocide and crimes against humanity described the accused as innocent, local press reported on Wednesday.

Newspaper The Guardian quoted the witness, a Hutu woman codenamed as WFGS to safeguard her safety, told the trial court of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) that Pauline Nyiramasuhuko had not practiced the Hutu-Tutsi ethnic discrimination as alleged by the prosecution.
