Italian vinery reports rebound in demand for white wine

ROME, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Demand for white wine made in Italy is making a comeback in world markets, with the country's icon vinery reporting surging exports to more than 50 countries, local media reported on Saturday.

At the 39th edition of Vinitaly in Verona, Italy's most important trade fair for wine, the Umano Ronchi vinery said Friday that it is exporting 75 percent of the Verdicchio it produces to over 50 countries, mostly to Scandinavia where white wine is increasingly popular with young people.

Demand is also up from the United States and Japan, the vinery in Italy's central Adriatic Marche region said.
