Rwanda's mother, infant mortality rates high: report

KIGALI, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Rwanda has high mother and infant mortality rates, according to the 2005 World Health Report unveiled on Sunday.

The report indicated that in Rwanda the mortality rates of both mothers and children before and after birth were still an issue that had not been handled effectively, as 16 percent of pregnant mothers die when giving birth while 40 percent of infants die at birth.
