Chinese Taipei edges off Japan 73-62 in Asian basketball

QINHUANGDAO, Hebei Province, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Taipei edged off Japan 73-62 Sunday to win the third place of the Asian women's basketball championships and a berth to the World Championships next year in Brazil.

Chinese Taipei, who beat Japan 86-73 in the preliminary round, qualifies along with China and South Korea, who will vie for the title of the tournament later.
