Put the antacid away. When the Cleveland Indians pulled out of
town Wednesday night, their sights remained set on the American
League wild card.
The Indians throttled the Sox and a maddeningly inconsistent Jon
Garland 8-0 Wednesday night to take two of three during a showdown
series at U.S. Cellular Field.
It was a great show of force.
But a boot to the throat, this was not.
Yes, the Indians should feel good about regaining their momentum,
but failing to complete a three-game sweep probably ended the
Indians' chances of winning the AL Central title. More than pitching
or timely hitting, the Sox' greatest weapon now is the calendar.
