French president to go to Singapore for Paris Olympic bid

PARIS, June 23 (Xinhua) -- French President Jacques Chirac will go to Singapore on July 6 to help Paris bid for the hosting rights for the 2012 Olympic Games before the International Olympic Committee (IOC) made its final choice, Chirac's office announced Thursday.

"Despite his very tight schedule, notably the start of the G8 summit at 19:30 British time (18:30 GMT), the French president considered that he should be present in Singapore to defend the interests of France during this presentation," a spokesman said, ...
