Kazakhstan to meet Japan in semi-final of Asian Women's Volleyball Championship

TAICANG, East China, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- Kazakhstan advanced into the semi-final of the 2005 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship by beating Chinese Taipei 3-1 here on Tuesday.

Kazakhstan will face Japan, who defeated Democratic People's Republic of Korea 3-0 early on Tuesday, in the semi-final of the tournament which will be held on Wednesday.

Kazakhstan, who suffered only one loss during the six-team group round, took control of the game by taking the first two sets 26-24 and 25-23.

Yelena Pavlova led a game-high 29 points for Kazakhstan, including 25 spikes, Olga Grushko added 15 points.
