China, Chinese Taipei win in women's volleyball world championship Asian qualifying

BEILUN, Zhejiang Province, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Olympic and World Cup champion China withstood a stiff test to defeat Australia in straight sets on Friday in Group A of the women's volleyball world championship Asian qualifying tournament.

China won the hard-earned match in 70 minutes, 25-15, 25-11, 30- 28, for its second straight victory in the five-team group.

In the day's other action, Chinese Taipei also chalked up its second consecutive victory after crushing inexperienced Jordan 25-3, 25-4, 25-4.
