Chinese Taipei advances to women's volleyball world championship (updated)

NINGBO, Zhejiang Province, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Taipei edged Australia in four sets on Saturday in Group A of the women's volleyball world championship Asian qualifying tournament.

With the 25-15, 24-26, 25-18, 26-24 victory, Chinese Taipei has earned a berth in next year's world championship to be held in Japan despite the result of their last group game on Sunday against China.

"Many spectators chanted cheers for us tonight. I am very grateful to them for their support," said Lin Kuang Hung, head coach of Chinese Taipei.
