Article: Blue Jays acquire Glaus in 4-man deal

The Arizona Diamondbacks traded power-hitting third baseman Troy Glaus and minor-league shortstop prospect Sergio Santos to the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday for Gold Glove second baseman Orlando Hudson and right-hander Miguel Batista.

Glaus, who has three years left on the four-year, $45 million contract he signed last December, hit .258 and led the Diamondbacks in home runs (37) and RBI (97) last season. He led the American League with 47 homers in 2000 and was named the most valuable player of the 2002 World Series as a member of the then-Anaheim Angels.

"He's the big bopper we were looking for," Blue Jays general manager J.P. Ricciardi said.
