Sudanese government says serious to end Darfur peace talks successfully

KHARTOUM, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- The Sudanese government on Tuesday confirmed its seriousness to end a sixth round of peace talks with rebels in the western region of Darfur successfully.

Second-Vice President Ali Othman Mohammed Taha made the commitment in a meeting here with Salem Ahmed Salem, African Union (AU) peace mediator to Darfur, the official SUNA news agency reported.

Taha was quoted as saying that the Sudanese government had fully authorized its delegation to the Abuja talks to seek a final and successful solution to the Darfur crisis.
