China voices commitment to boosting international child development

BEIJING, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- China would continue to support and expand the cooperation with United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF)to contribute to the regional and international child development, Chinese Vice Premier Wu Yi said.

Wu made the remark when she met with Ann Veneman, UNICEF executive director here Tuesday.

Wu spoke positively on the the important role the UNICEF plays to promote international child development. But she also noted an imbalance existing in China's social and economic development.
