Russia sees no need to submit Iranian nuclear issue to UN

MOSCOW, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Russia does not think that a UN Security Council debate on the Iranian nuclear program is necessary, Russian Foreign Ministry stated on Monday.

"Moscow sees no reason to submit the question of the Iranian nuclear program to the UN Security Council," Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Yakovenko said, following the issue of a report by the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on the application of IAEA safeguards in Iran.

Russia expects that the session of the IAEA Board of Governors scheduled on Sept. 19 will discuss the report and work out further
