Russia says ready to cooperate with non-permanent members of UN Security Council

MOSCOW, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- Russia is willing to make constructive cooperation with the five newly-elected members of the UN Security Council, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

The 60th session of the UN General Assembly elected Congo, Qatar, Slovakia, Ghana and Peru as non-permanent members of the UN Security Council on Monday.

The Russian ministry expressed hope that the new non-permanent members will make a worthy contribution to the strengthening of the central role of the UN Security Council in the provision of international peace and security.
