Japan thrash Chinese Taipei 6-1 in EAG soccer opener
MACAO, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- Japan overpowered Chinese Taipei 6-1
Saturday in the men's soccer opener at the East Asian Games,
unveiling their ambition for the title.
Japan confined their rivals to their own half pitch throughout the
game, which turned out to be a training session for the Japanese.
Japan had missed a few chances in spite of putting constant
pressure on Chinese Taipei until forward Akamine Shingo lunged into
the box to rifle the ball home on 30 minutes, releasing a goal rush.
One minute later, Akiba Yoichi added a second after intercepting a
failed clearance on the edge of the box.
