Competition format for Melbourne artistics gymnastics world championships

MELBOURNE, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Following is the competing format of the 38th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships slated from November 22 to 27 in Melbourne.

Men and women have to compete separately. While men compete on six apparatus - floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar, women only perform on four - vault, uneven bars, beam and floor.

There are three competitions in the tournament, which has no team competition.

1. Qualifications: gymnasts compete as individuals and the results determine who qualify for the finals.
