US owes Iraq 208 million dollars for reconstruction work: newspaper

WASHINGTON, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- A group of international auditors said that the United States should repay some 208 million US dollars to Iraq for a poorly-done reconstruction work, The New York Times reported Saturday.

The work, which was contracted to KBR, a subsidiary of the US defense contractor Halliburton, and was paid with Iraqi oil proceeds, was either carried out at inflated price or accomplished poorly, the auditors were quoted as saying.
