Five police officers killed in rebel attack in Colombia
BOGOTA, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Five police officers were killed and
six others were kidnapped on Saturday when rebels attacked a village
in western Colombia, government officials said.
Attorney General Mario Iguaran told a local radio that a report
received by his office "indicates five police dead and six kidnapped"
in the attack launched by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia
(FARC).
The attack occurred just before dawn, when dozens of militants
from the FARC encircled the village of San Marino, 275 km west of
