Israeli intelligence official says West Bank, Gaza Strip may split into two entities

JERUSALEM, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- The head of Israel's military intelligence said Sunday that it was increasingly likely that in the coming year the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) would split into two independent entities in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

Major General Aharon Zeevi made the remarks in the cabinet while speaking to the ministers, local newspaper Haaretz reported on its online edition.

Zeevi told the ministers that the Islamic Resistance Movement ( Hamas) would take political and military control over the Gaza Strip, which he dubbed "Hamastan," while in the West Bank the ruling Fatah ...
