Malawi court rescues vice president from prosecution

LILONGWE, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- Malawi High Court sitting in the country's commercial capital, Blantyre, Wednesday granted Vice President Cassim Chilumpha an injunction preventing him from appearing before court for fraud committed six years ago.

The vice president was implicated in a 2 million-US dollars fraud in the country's Ministry of Education in 1999 when he was minister responsible for the education portfolio.
