PM denies negligence over bird flu outbreak

ANKARA, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday rejected suggestion that his government and health authorities have been tardy in acting to contain an outbreak of avian flu in eastern Turkey that has so far claimed three lives.

Three children from the same family died of human form of bird flu in the 100th University Medical Faculty in Van province and some two dozen people have been hospitalized with bird flu symptoms in the region.
