Agriculture minister warns possible bird flu outbreak in Bulgaria

SOFIA, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- Bulgaria's Agriculture and Forestry Minister Nihat Kabil has warned the country of a possible bird flu outbreak following the confirmation of the lethal H5N1 strain in dead swans, local newspaper Trud reported on Monday.

"We should not be much surprised if in the coming days the first outbreak of bird flu takes place in Bulgaria, because signals have already emerged all over the country, except the southwestern region," the minister was quoted as saying.
