Olympic champion Liu Xiang receives random drug test

SHANGHAI, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- Olympic champion Liu Xiang received a random drug test from world's athletics governing body IAAF during the Shanghai national indoor tournament of China on Sunday.

The 23-year-old Liu, who did not compete in the tournament because of a left ankle injury, was tested for the first time this year.

Liu, also the silver medal winner in last year's world championships in Helsinki, was one of the most tested Chinese athletes. He received nearly 10 tests in 2005.

"I have been used to that," Liu said. "It happened frequently. It is normal to have the Olympic champion tested."
