German deficit exceeds euro-zone limit for fourth year

BERLIN, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- The German budget deficit in 2005 exceeded euro-zone limit for a fourth year in a row, government statistics released Thursday showed.

The deficit figure last year was 3.5 percent of gross domestic product (GDP), surpassing the euro-zone ceiling of 3 percent of GDP, the Federal Statistics Office said.
