Romania detects new cases of bird flu in southern region
BUCHAREST, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- Romania detected new cases of bird
flu in domestic fowls on Tuesday in the southern county of Dolj, the
county's health authorities said.
The three dead hens found in Dolj's Cetate village were confirmed
to be killed by bird flu virus but the strain is still unknown,
Romanian news agency Rompres quoted Andrei Butaru, head of Dolj's
Veterinary Bureau, as saying.
The local government has disinfected the village and imposed
quarantine there. All domestic fowls in the village have been culled
to prevent the spread of the virus.
