Nigeria could lose 1 billion dollars to Niger Delta crisis this year: minister

LAGOS, March 7 (Xinhua) -- Nigerian Minister of State for Defense Rowland Oritsejafor said on Tuesday Nigeria is losing over 19.2 million U.S. dollars daily due to the activities of militants in the oil-producing Niger Delta.

If the trend of disturbing production continued in the area, " the country might lose about one billion dollars in a year," he told House of Representatives Committee on Defense in the capital Abuja.
