Chinese stock markets close higher in morning sessions

BEIJING, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stock markets closed their morning sessions on Tuesday about one percent higher after reaching new highs in more than one year.

The Composite Stock Index on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, which comprises yuan-denominated A shares and foreign-currency B shares, closed the morning session at 1,513.1 points, up 1.07 percent with a total turnover of 19.4 billion yuan (2.4 billion US dollars).

It opened at 1,503.24 points, up 6.14 points over the closing level of 1,497.1 points on Monday.
