Greek, Turkish Cypriot leaders begin meeting with UN official

NICOSIA, July 8 (Xinhua) -- Cypriot President Tassos Papadopoulos and Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat held a key meeting in the presence of UN Under Secretary General for Political Affairs Ibrahim Gambari over the prospects to resume stalled reunification negotiations here on Saturday.

The meeting began at 1540 p.m. (1240 GMT) at the residence of UN Special Representative in Cyprus Michael Moller in the UN buffer zone in the Cypriot capital Nicosia.

President Papadopoulos said he was going to the meeting hoping for the best for Cyprus.
