Slovenia calls for compromise solution for Kosovo status

BELGRADE, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Slovenian Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel called Wednesday for a compromise solution for the future status of Kosovo, the Serbian southern province where ethnic Albanian majority demand outright independence.

During talks with his Serbian counterpart Vuk Draskovic in Belgrade, Rupel said, "an enforced solution must not happen. It has to suit both sides. I believe that it is possible to achieve a win- win deal."

Rupel said that Serbia's opinion should be given more weight in EU and international discussions regarding Kosovo's future status.
